DETERMINA??O DOS ELEMENTOS TRA?OS Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Cr, Ni E Al EM AMOSTRAS DE P?ES E VEGETAIS COMERCIALIZADAS NA CIDADE DE JEQUIé, BA

Concentrations of Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, Cr, Ni and Al were determined using inductively coupled plasmaoptical emission spectrometry in eleven samples of foodstuff which includes breads and vegetablemost frequently consumed by inhabitants of Jequié city, BA. Results obtained showed the mean ±standard deviation of three determinations. The content of Cd ranged between 1,32 x 10-1 ± 7,00 x 10-4to 2,80 x 10-1 ± 7,20 x 10-4 mg kg-1 in cabbage and sweet pepper, respectively. The highest levels of Pb7,40 ± 7,10 x 10-3 mg kg-1 and Zn 91,0 ± 9,50 x 10-2 mg kg-1 were found in rocket. Cu levels rangedwidely from 2,12 ± 1,50 x 10-3 in bread to 22,1 ± 4,50 x 10-2 mg kg-1 in tomatoes. The Cr level 4,73 ±1,50 x 10-3 mg kg-1 was high in onion white. Highest levels of Ni 5,91 ± 2,40 x 10-4 mg kg-1 and Al 1,83x 102 ± 6,10 x 10-2mg Kg-1 were found to occur in lettuce. The concentration for some metal ions (Cdin sweet pepper, Pb in rocket, sweet pepper and tomatoes, Cu in rocket and tomatoes and Zn in rocket)exceed the maximum permissible limit of metals in foodstuff with recommended by the BrazilianMinistry of Health (1998).
