Henrique Gallucio: trajetória, agonia e morte do gênio construtor da Fortaleza de S?o José de Macapá

This paper discusses the process of building the Fortaleza de S?o José de Macapá, that has in Henrique Gallucio its main social actor. Brings, in the concept of Elias (1995), a defined and ordered sequence in the history of Amazon colonization. For Elias it is a structured process that goes in the right direction and is closely linked to the general social process. Gallucio lived between being what it was - an outsider - the lands of the New World, fighting against the power of establishment and suffering of nihilism caused by environmental conditions, social and the malaria, a disease that caused his death at 41 years old.
