The development of mankind, since ancient times, was and remains subjected to constant challenges, testing their capability to survive. Disastrous events caused by fire throughout history led to the creation of legal mechanisms, driven by the need to build secure environments. It has been shown the importance for the architect, professional responsible for the architectural design and the management of complementary projects, to learn about fire coating systems in order to prevent inappropriate interventions, which is inconvenient for the idealized design. The objective of this study is to analyze the processes and materials for fire coating in buildings with metal structures of steel and their degree of influence on architectural design. The research found that the various construction processes interact with the architecture, depending on the choice of materials and execution processes. It was found that the various fire protection systems incorporated into the building through coatings interact with architectural design, and that by a legal request, must foresee the protection of structural elements in order to avoid structural instability. It was concluded that if the different construction processes involving the use of coating protections against fire is not worked in their academic experience, there will be difficulties to create a safe building design and minimize the interventions in architectural design.
