SMALL VESICLES, BIG VEHICLES: EXOSOMES

摘要

Exosomes are small membranous vesicles released by different cell types. Since theirdiscovery, they have evolved from being considered simple vehicles for the liberationof cellular wastes, to become one of the most promising fields in the area ofbiomedical research, and more specifically in oncology, since the different malignanttumors release exosomes to all biological fluids, being involved in various functionsof the neoplastic process.At present, it is possible to study these vesicles by minimally invasive techniques inpatients, which approach us to obtain a more detailed diagnosis and prognosis, as wellas to the discovery of new antitumoral therapies.
