The article analyzes the socio-economic structure of the Tver province before 1914 and its transformationinto the first world war. Economic crisis, distress and hardship, a sharp change in the demographic compositionof the population, increased socio-economic tensions in the Tver province, which reached its peak bythe beginning of 1917. The Extreme conditions of wartime, mass movement of people in territorial and socialspace has created a fertile ground for the marginalization of the Tver society. By 1917 the Marginal layers becomeformidable explosive force, can greatly influence the course and outcome of subsequent events in the Tverregion.
