This text was written by four esteemed Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons bringing together their experience. The lead author, Benjamin Joseph, has written over 50% of the chapters. I have personal experience with his teaching and logical thinking and with his co-authors it is not surprising that this blatantly comes through in its text. It is comprehensive and this system to guide Orthopaedic Surgeons in decision making is really quite remarkable. To gain full benefits of this book a basic ground knowledge of paediatric orthopaedic surgery is essential. This text allows this knowledge to be applied to clinical decision making, taking into account age, degree of deformity, stage of a pathological process etc. Subsequently this makes this text a superb teaching and learning aid to orthopaedic registrars and higher surgical trainees. It should make their opinion and clinical decision making relevant to clinical practice and specific clinical situations. Having read particular sections of this book at the same time as reading about that condition, it would give them a clinical maturity when answering questions and discussing cases in their final exit examinations.
