Thai language teaching problems and teacher development of Elementary schools in rural Thailand

摘要

This article aims to analyze the status of teaching and the development of the elementary teachers in rural school at Prayuendistrict, Khon Kaen province. The samples from 20 schools and 74 teachers were collected as key data. The research found outthat 54 percent of teachers graduated their Bachelor in another subject than Thai language. The issue of teaching Thailanguage is about 3 problems, 25 percent have problems of knowledge about Thai language skills, 22 percent believe that theadministration policy don’t support enough, and 16 percent need to develop their Thai knowledge and skills mostly in readingand writing. Approving their skills affects the efficiency of the students. The Thai lecturers in Khon Kaen University should getinvolve in development the Thai teachers in rural school.
