摘要

Errors in manual counting of reinforcement bars (rebars) in packaging line is one of multiple concerns that may happen in a steel bar rolling mill. Numerous steel bar rolling mills are manually counting rebar in their packaging line. This process is susceptible to error mainly because of low human work efficiency. This leads the researchers to study an alternative way to avoid counting error by implementing image processing technology using K-means algorithm and Hough transform. The result test statistic was small compared to the critical test statistic and the probability value obtained is high. This follows the acceptance of null hypothesis; the output rebar quantity of the system is the same with the standard rebar quantity. Furthermore, time saved was vast when there were more rebars in a bundle. Overall, the study demonstrated that the proposed system is fast and an effective way of avoiding error in counting rebar.
