Eagle's Syndrome- A case report

Eagle’s syndrome represents a group of symptoms that includes recurrent throat pain, globus hystericus, dysphagia, reffered otalgia, and neck pain possibly caused by elongation of the styloid process or ossification of stylohyoid or stylomandibular ligament. We present a case of 21 yrs old female having chief complaint of bilateral preauricular tenderness since one year. Her clinical signs resembled the presentation of Eagle’s Syndrome, which were radiologically confirmed by Orthopantomogram and Computed Tomography. Patient underwent surgical excision of caudal part of the elongated styloid process (styloidectomy). Postoperatively 10 months later, the patient had significant reduction of pain.
