Selfie Authentication: Using Handheld Devices Through Iris Recognition

The vision of the near future indicates that selfie authentication will be one of the most popular biometric authentication methodologies. It is a methodology that guarantees identity by using iris recognition technology taken by the person through a handheld device, and has been driven by the popularity of the self-portrait or selfie technique. Selfie authentication is more secure than traditional authentication methods and also more convenient because the characteristics cannot be copied and cannot be forgotten. We present a wide literature review of the advantages of the technology, outlining the requirements and goals.
