Asemi#45;empiricalmodelwasformulatedtoestimatethephotonicefficiencyofphotocatalyticreactionsinheterogeneoussystems.Thisisafunctionofapre#45;exponentialfactorcalledintrinsicphotonic#45;efficiencyandanexponentialfactorthatquantifiedtheeffectofcatalystloading,geometry,andinitialconcentrationofsubstrate.Theassumptionsandthemodelwerevalidatedonthephotodegradationofdichloroaceticacidinthreelab#45;scaleheterogeneousphotocatalyticreactors,usingTiO2#45;P25andlowenergymonochromaticradiation.Itwasfoundthatthemodelishighlypredictiveforphotonicefficiencieswithrelativeerrorsbelow1.8%./font
