The Defense Department's fiscal year 2021 budget request offers the first comprehensive look at the Space Force budget, which calls for $15.4 billion to fund the new service. The Space Force budget is largely a consolidation of personnel and programs that previously resided in the Air Force. The proposal includes $10.3 billion for research and development ～ a $500 million increase from FY-20 Air Force investment — $2.4 billion for procurement, $2.5 billion for operations and maintenance and $100 million in overseas contingency operations funding, according to budget overview documents released today.
