MDA awards Lockheed nearly $1B THAAD contract for Army, Saudi Arabia

The Missile Defense Agency has awarded Lockheed Martin a $932 million contract for Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptors in a deal to finance procurement with Saudi Arabia, which is responsible for the bulk of the purchase. On March 24, MDA awarded Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Dallas, TX, a $932 million contract modification for THAAD interceptors, raising the value of the contract from $5.3 billion to $6.3 billion. The Saudi Arabia paid $605 million and MDA, on behalf of the Army, paid $327 million. Last year, MDA executed a firm-fixed-price contract modification that allows the Saudis to piggyback on a U.S. production contract.
