Background: The meniscus plays an important role in the knee, both as a shock stabiliser and a secondary stabiliser. However, it is prone to injury and due to its poor blood supply, it has poor healing rates. Current surgical management of meniscal injuries can be split into two broad arms - meniscal repair and partial meniscectomy.
