Posterior shoulder dislocation associated with scapular and coracoid fractures: A case report

Introduction: Posterior shoulder dislocation is considered to be a rare injury accounting for only 2-5% of all shoulder dislocations. Despite its scarce appearance in daily clinical practice, posterior shoulder dislocation is of significant diagnostic and therapeutic interest because of its damage on shoulder function and its high incidence of missed initial diagnosis. Posterior shoulder dislocation associated with scapular and coracoid fracture is even more rare and may result in more serious shoulder functional loss. The treatment for this complicated injury is a very ticklish problem. In this article, we reported a case of posterior shoulder dislocation associated with scapular and coracoid fractures and discussed the treatment and the outcome.
