Allelopathy of Crotalariajuncea L. aqueous extracts on germination and initial development of maize

Theobjectiveofthisstudywastoevaluatetheallelopathicpotentialofsunnhempextractsongerminationandinitialdevelopmentofmaize.Thetrialswerecarriedoutinthelaboratoryandgreenhousewithfourconcentrations(0;7.5;15and30%)ofaqueousextractsobtainedbygrindingandleaching.Inagerminationchamber,moreconcentratedextracts(15%and30%)inhibitedmaizegermination,whileshootlength(SL)wasstimulatedat7.5%concentration.Groundextractstimulatedrootlength(RL)atalltestedconcentrations.Rootnumber(RN)wasinhibitedathigherconcentrationsofleachedextractandstimulatedforseedsexposedtosunnhempgroundextract.Inthegreenhouse,thelongestrootlength(LRL)ofmaizewasinhibitedatthehighestconcentration(30%)ofbothextracts.ThegroundextractinhibitedtheLSinallconcentrationsandthe7.5%concentrationstimulatedtheRN.Itwasconcludedthatsunnhempextractsshowedallelopathiceffectonmaizedevelopment,whichvariedaccordingtohowtheextractswereobtainedandconcentrationsused./font
