ERP) signal for each sentence was extracted by averag- ing EEG signals. Phoneme-onset impulse trains were made based on information about the onset time of phonemes in each sen- tence. The impulse trains were obtained for a whole-sentence case and component-excluded cases. In the component-excluded cases, we omitted impulses related to the components in the whole-sentence impulse train. The component-excluded cases were noun, verb, subject and object-excluded. Speech-evoked EEG was computed between ERP signal and the impulse train by using cross-correlation. Speech-evoked EEG for the whole-sentence case and one for each component-excluded case were compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.
