Survey of Pod Rot Pathogens in Oklahoma

Pod rot is a sporadic and occasionally devastating disease of peanuts in Oklahoma, particularly of Virginia market types. Previous studies identified Pythium myriotylum and Rhizoctonia solani as the predominant pod-rotting pathogens in Oklahoma, but recent studies in other states have isolated additional species of Pythium from symptomatic pods. A survey to identify the pathogens causing pod rot in Oklahoma was conducted in 2015.
