Verticillium wilt, caused by the soilborne fungus Verticillium dahliae, and the pod rot complex, caused by Rhizoctonia solani and several Pythium spp, are major diseases of peanut in west Texas. Field tests were conducted from 2010 to 2015 to evaluate cultivars in fields with a history of pod rot and/or Verticillium wilt. Tests included various commercially available Runner, Spanish and Virginia market-types, as well as advanced Runner breeding lines. Disease assessments were made throughout each growing season and pod yields were used to compare cultivars.
