Bisphenols(BPs)arepotentialendocrine-disruptingchemicalsthatmayadverselyaffecthumanhealthandwildlife.Thecomplexityofmatrixencounteredinreal-worldsamplesrendersscreeningoftraceBPsaformidablechallenge.Thepresentstudyhighlightedthepotentialofmolecularlyimprintedsolid-phaseextraction(MISPE)forselectivedetectionoftracebisphenolsandtheirhalogenatedanaloguesinsurfacewater.Thetemplatebleedingwasobservedatparts-per-billionlevels,deterioratingtheaccuracyandprecisionofBPsquantification.Tosurmountthisproblem,adummyMISPEstrategywasproposed,inwhichbisphenolE(BPE)wasselectedasadummytemplateformolecularlyimprintedpolymer(MIP)synthesis.CouplingthisMISPEstrategywithchromatographicanalysis,adummyMISPE-HPLCmethodwasestablished.Thelinearity,precision,limitofdetection(LOD)andrecoverywerethenvalidated.ThelinearityofthecalibrationcurveforeachBPwasobservedovertherangeof20–2000ngL?1(r0.998).LODforeachbisphenolwasmeasuredaslowas2.5–5.0ngL?1.ThistechniquewasappliedtosimultaneousscreeningofBPsintheQingheRiver,andfivebisphenolswerefoundwithintheconcentrationrangeof0–224ngL?1inriversamples.ThedesigneddummyMIPwassuperiortothecommercialsorbentswithregardtotheselectivity,cross-reactivity,matrixremovalefficiencyandreusability.ThesemeritsenabledtheapplicationsofdummyMISPEforselectiveextractionandsensitivescreeningofBPsinenvironmentalwatersamples.Thismethodalsoprovidedapromisingtoolformonitoringtheoccurrence,distributionandfateofBPsinsurfacewater...
