Peer review report 2 on “Rare benign mixed tumour of the upper lip: A case report”

Introduction: In the introduction, it is expected that the noveltyof this case report in particular is highlighted, otherwise it is notentirely clear to the reader how this particular case report isuseful. What does this particular case report add to the literature? I have done a quick check and noted several case reportsthat outline very similar case scenarios as recent as 2015 (here isan example: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4470423/). The purpose of a case report is to act as aneducational resource and add to the body of literature. There islittle benefit to the readership in accumulating identical casereports and there are a fair few on Chondroid Syringomas. Thatsaid, there are very few case reports describing ChondroidSyringomas in the lip. That in itself can be used as a novel way ofintroducing your case. This can then be followed through withparticular considerations in how the diagnostic process isapproached for lumps in the lip and how sequential exclusionled to the final diagnosis of a Chondroid Syringoma. To someextent you have done this, but only in the closing paragraph ofthe report whereas it should be highlighted from the outset.
