摘要

The aim of this study is to analyze and characterize the role of the Sectoral Innovation System of Agro-Industrial Complex of Soy in Brazil. The article analyzes the technological trajectory of the productive activity of the soybeans Sectoral system and their externalities while identifying the key regulatory mechanisms of the sector system of soybeans and how this affects the sustainable development of the activity. Thus, in order to establish a relationship between innovation and sustainability in agriculture (eco-innovation), this paper proposes an exploratory study to examine the social and environmental impacts resulting from technological paradigm adopted by the country’s agricultural activity, as well as the processes of regulation and coordination adopted by the Sectoral Innovation System, aiming at sustainability of the activity. It was used for the development of research, secondary data obtained from different sources (scholarly articles, books, statistical data from the IBGE, IPARDES, Ministry of Agriculture, among others), that were triangulated with each other as a way to enhance security in its interpretation. The soy complex has the characteristics of a dominant absorber system of innovation by their suppliers of inputs and equipment, and thus, the priority of analysis of greening of soybean system was the process of innovation and technological diffusion embedded in seed production and equipments. As a conclusion, it can be inferred that sustainability in agriculture requires a constant analysis of the effects of technology diffusion as well as the mitigation of negative externalities. Thus, it is imperative that the harmonization of economic, agricultural, social and environmental address itself to the greening of the National Innovation System, particularly with the adoption of legal mechanisms in order to induce a production system consistent with the sustainable development.
