The efficacy of leaf extracts ofGliricidia sepium, Tithonia diversifolia, Phyllanthus amarusandMorinda lucidawere assessedin vitroto controlCurvularia lunata.The extracts of the four plants suppressed the growth ofC. lunata in vitro. All the extracts at 100% concentration significantly suppressed the growth ofC. lunata(P ≤ 0.05). At all concentrations,P. amarusis most efficacious of all the plants extracts; this was followed by extract ofT. diversifoliaandM. lucida. Extract ofG. sepiumwas the least effective of all the plant extracts againstC. lunata.P. amarusis most efficient in the control of leaf spot of maize caused byC. lunataof all the four plant extracts used.
