An interconnection system whose loads protectedby a voltage suppressor and a low-pass filter against overvoltagescaused by coupling pulse-shaped electromagneticwaves is analyzed. The external wave influencing the systemis assumed as a plane wave with HPM form. The computationis provided by a full-wave PEEC model for the interconnectionstructure incorporated in the SPICE code. Thus, nonlinearelements of the protection circuit can be included in thecalculation. The analysis shows intermodulation distortionsand penetrations of low frequency interferences caused by intermodulationsthrough the protection circuits. The exampleexamined shows the necessity of using full-wave models forinterconnections together with non-linear circuit solvers forsimulation of noise immunity in systems protected by nonlineardevices.
