This paper deals with the basic electrical properties of dualnetworks and with their application in broadband matched filterstructures.Starting with the main characteristics and different realizationmethods of dual networks, a filter structure is presented, whichis based on a combination of dual networks and which provides abroadband matched input and two decoupled output ports. Thisfilter synthesis focuses on the design of high pass filters, whichare suitable to be used as differentiating stages in electricalpulse generators as a part of the so-called pulse shaping network.In order to achieve a proper pulse shape and for the prevention ofmultiple reflections between the switching circuit and thedifferentiating network, a broadband matched filter is a basicrequirement.
