A Study on Availability and Utilization of EDUSAT Facility in DIETs of Assam

District Institute of EducationandTraining (DIET) wereestablished across the country as a follow up action of NationalPolicy on Education (NPE, 1986) for training of elementary teacherin a systematic way. It was also suggested to use Information andCommunication Technology (ICT) tools in to improve the quality oftraining etc. Various efforts were made to enrich the teachingprocess with various ICT tools in the DIETs time to time. As a part ofit, Satellite Interactive Terminals (SIT) was established in variousDIETs in Assam using EDUSAT satellite. These SITs are two-wayinteractive system by which training can conduct from a distantlocation with live interaction between the trainer and trainee. Thereare total 23 DIETs in Assam and these facilities were commissionedin 15 DIETs. This research paper focuses on the availability ofvarious infrastructures under the EDUSAT facility and its utilizationin DIETs.
