As the population of the United States ages, it is anticipated that cognitive disease will place our health care system in an economic and social tailspin. Despite this gloomy outlook, several studies have shown a ray of hope with decreases in the overall prevalence of age-related dementia. Active research is attempting to elucidate this welcomed decline, though no answers have been discovered quite yet. A population study performed by Langa et al1 examined the prevalence of dementia in the United States between the years 2000 and 2012.
