As the population of the United States ages, it is anticipated that cognitive disease will place our health care system in an economic and social tailspin. Despite this gloomy outlook, several studies have shown a ray of hope with decreases in the overall prevalence of age-related dementia. Active research is attempting to elucidate this welcomed decline, though no answers have been discovered quite yet. A population study performed by Langa et al1 examined the prevalence of dementia in the United States between the years 2000 and 2012. This study, the largest of this kind to date, had findings that confirmed previous research, but answers still remain elusive....In the year 2000 and again in the year 2012, the study coordinators performed a cognitive assessment...
