The U.S. Navy's cryptology community has a fascinating history, full of mysterious stories ofdeciphering the most complicated of codes and solving seemingly impossible puzzles.From the Civil War, when cryptologic personnel were called upon to protect the Navy's signals fromunauthorized use, to World War II, when the use of cryptology helped alter the course of the war inthe Pacific, the highly specialized skills of cryptologists were in high demand then and continue tobe a valuable asset to the Navy.
