El artculo, es el primero de una serie que revisar el tema de los estudios de intervencin o ensayos clnicos controlados. Revisa la importancia de sta metodologa y sus antecedentes, aborda las definiciones ms utilizadas y las clasificaciones de ste tipo de estudios. En los siguientes artculos sobre el tema, se revisarn: El diseo, conduccin y anlisis de los ensayos clnicos, las consideraciones ticas y las regulaciones para aprobacin y ejecucin de los mismos. SUMMARY The article, is the first of a series that will review the topic of the intervention studies or controlled clinical trials. It revises the importance of this methodology and their antecedents, it approaches the used definitions and the classifications of this type of studies. In the following articles on the topic, we will be revised: The design, conduction and analysis of randomized controlled trials, the ethical considerations and the regulations for approval and ejecution of the same ones.
