摘要

An example of the application of the sparse matrix technique in the investigation of field problems using the finite element method is presented. This technique is very useful because of the considerable saving of computer storage and significant reducing of communication time between central and auxiliary memory units. In the case, when Gauss-Seidel iterative method is used the process of data preparation becomes very simple due to the fact, that the node numbering can be made in an arbitrary way.
