Michele Mann Winters, 1943-1976

The medical community of the San Diego Naval Hospital has expressed great sadness over thedeath of Michele Mann Winters, and numerous medical librarians mourn the loss of a young, vibrant friend. For those who did not have the pleasure of knowing her, let us say a few words. Michele had been an active participant in library organizations. She was a member of the Medical Library Association, Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona, Special Libraries Association, and the American Library Association. She had served part of her terms of office as-chairman, Military Medical Library Group and as treasurer of the San Diego Chapter of the Special Libraries Association. Michele was instrumental in the development of the Military Medical Library Group, which is now an MLA special interest group. She constantly planned ways to bring librarians together for discussion of common problems and solutions. She worked hard in furthering library cooperation in every manner possible.
