Romanian Legislation Harmonized with European Union Regulations on Insurance of Farm Animal Health and Welfare during Transportation

Implementing Romanian legislation harmonized with the EU regulations inassuring farm animal welfare during transportation represents a major point in animal protection andfor securing consumer protection, by creating the most appropriate conditions to prevent animaldiseases during transportation. Assessment of complying legal stipulations and shipment conditionssuch as balanced duration, alternation of transportation breaks with travel periods, ensuringappropriate surfaces during the transportation, feeding and watering during the breaks, or if the case,during the transportation itself, securing the animals during the transportation in appropriatecircumstances, to avoid potential accidents or discomfort represent major objectives in creating acomfort zone during the shipment and defining animal welfare. Priority should be given to aspects thatcan emerge in the process of implementing the legislation, that are not present in the existing legalprovisions.
