Technical, scientific and information revolution has enabled the fragmentation of the production process in a worldwide scale. In this scenario, ports are fundamental in the context of globalization as they promote material integration into global market and represent key structures in spatial arrangements. In the face of global integration logic, which requires port infrastructure, this study suggests the economic valuation as an environmental management tool applicable to the impacts made by port enterprises to artisanal fishing activities, having as case study the impacts caused by Super Porto do A?u to the practice of artisanal fishing in S?o Jo?o da Barra, RJ.
