Report on the 9th ECNDT, including ICNDT meetings and Mutual Co-Operation Agreement between AINDT and the Russian NDT Society

In February 1954 schoolchildren across the Nation lined the streets waving Union Jacks and Aussie flags to honour Queen Elizabeth II on her first official tour of Australia after her Coronation in 1953. For many young post war children this was the first notion of Queen and Country; less than nine years after the finish of World War 2. At school we were told about the young militia soldiers that had held back the Japanese advance on the Kokoda Track in New Guinea, so I took some 45 calibre bullets (from my father's Batavia Netherland East Indies army kit) to school to impress my schoolmates. Needless to say the nuns weren't impressed; I was berated in front of the whole school assembly and promptly sent home without the bullets.
