Guest Editors David Barlex (Brunei University) Steve Keirl (University of South Australia) Articles are requested in response to the growing interest in cross-curricular activities in the school curriculum Technology is pervasive, is having a major effect on the planet, and has a defining influence on the nature of our lives. This presents a challenge to education which cannot be effectively met by curricula based on single school subjects coupled with a silo mentality. However, times suggest that the notion of the 'subject' is under pressure and that it is the demands of the education of the whole person, that is, general education rather than specialist education to which attention is being directed, developing successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
