Taping it easy

Atypical double-sided tape is made up of four layers. A layer of adhesive is coated on a carrier, which acts as a support and separates it from a second layer of adhesive. A release liner - usually paper -completes the construction. To apply, the tape is simply unwound to reveal the first adhesive surface and the release liner removed to expose the second. Very different substrates can thus be bonded including low energy to high energy, rough to smooth and porous to non-porous.
