One of its longest standing clients, SKF Condition Monitoring Centre (Livingston) recently approached the company with an ambitious, industrial and engineering design project to develop a rugged, dust- and water-proof portable handheld instrument. The product - SKF's new, Microlog Analyser AX, which measures noise and vibration levels of plant machinery in tough environments - provides vital data to machine operators, including an approximate indication of time scales within which a machine must be repaired before it fails.
