Energy Minister, Mike O'Brien (pictured) is urging UK manufacturing industry to play a prominent role in delivering Britain's new nuclear power stations. He believes British business should be first off the blocks in the global supply chain race as there is potential to secure tens of billions of pounds for the wider UK economy. Mr O'Brien was speaking at a recent conference organised by the Nuclear Industry Association and the Special Metals Forum with support from the government's Office for Nuclear Development. Alan Partridge, chief executive of the National Metals Technology Centre, which manages the SMF said that both the SMF and NIA are working to ensure that UK businesses are able to exploit what will be unique opportunities. He urges all companies wishing to supply the sector to contact these organisations as soon as possible.
