The aromatic polyamide hollow fiber membrane designed for a reverse osmosis system suitable for intake water containing 35,000 ppm of dissolved solids was subjected to high salinity water ranging from 20,000 to 53,000 ppm to evaluate its performance. The temperature of the intake water varied between 17℃ and 35℃ to study its effects on permeation, recovery and salt rejection. The values of recovery were between 34% and 42%, and the salt rejection was above 99%. Both these values were higher than expected.
