摘要

Cerium (IV) phosphate (CP), material of the class of tetravalent metal acid salts has been used as cation exchanger. The sorption/ion exchange behavior of CP toward heavy metal ions (Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, and Pb2+) has been studied using Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. The distribution coefficient (K-d) (at optimum conditions) and breakthrough capacity for these metal ions have been determined. Elution behavior of these metal ions has been studied using acids and electrolytes. Based on the separation factor a few binary and ternary metal ion separations have been performed.
