Teaching Supply Chain Security in an Uncertain World

摘要

The global supply chain, consisting of multiple activities, which cover the design, procurement, manufacturing, distribution and consumption of goods, repeatedly demonstrates the co-existence of operational optimization with operational vulnerability, most recently and dramatically upon the aftermath of the tragic earthquake and tsunami which devastated the northern coastal region of Japan last March. Teaching the supply chain undergraduate or graduate degree programs, along with executive professional development is changing in recognition of the need to manage the uncertainty of global supply chain activities. This change is reflected in the textbooks used in classes, both in traditional brick and mortar settings, as well as, online distance learning.
