U.S. lawmakers have rejected President Trump's attempt to block passage of the FY21defense authorization bill. Both chambers originally passed the bill last month, despite threats from the presidentthat he would veto the legislation. Trump has been vocal about the bill's support for renaming military bases thathonor confederate leaders. He also wanted the legislation to strip legal protections for social media companies, but lawmakers said such a provision has no place in the defense bill. The legislation also places limits on theadministration's plans for removing troops from Afghanistan and Germany.
