Equipment at all points on the network is being re-evaluated by the military, and this applies as much to back-office machines as it does to C4ISR systems. Finding the right blend of multi-purpose machines to suit the needs of the military market demands specific knowledge and careful management of relationships, asserts Jo Turner the MoD account manager for Canon (UK) Ltd. The network-based approach to military systems that is having such a dramatic effect on the battlefield is not being implemented solely at the front line. Networks comprise a number of other machines and systems that perform vital links in the information and command chain, from the photocopier to the fax machine. While this equipment is common to most businesses in most industries, there is a need for military and UK MoD requirements to be addressed specifically. At the moment the demand from these customers is changing as the network-based environment takes hold.
