Increasing demand for security in public space and the corresponding growth in the public-private relationship has been the major driver for growth for manned guarding services. For example, hospital parking spaces, which were once covered by the police, are now largely controlled by private guards. De-policing, and the consequent cost reduction for the state, is still in a very nascent stage in many countries across Europe, while countries such as the United Kingdom have been de-policing for several years. The market has also been lobbying in order to be able to provide service in prisons, but evolving legislations and changing political landscape play a big role in the private security market.
