The sustenance provided for soldiers in action is of vital importance to their health and wellbeing, which naturally has an immediate effect on the effectiveness of frontline service. Ration provision for the armed forces includes a number of challenges - the shelf life and quality of the food, the speed and ease with which it can be consumed and the equipment available with which to cook it.
