The old Aldershot Military Power Station, colloquially known as AMPS, stands on the banks of the Basingstoke Canal and has been a local landmark ever since it opened. It was an important building in its day - a power station dedicated to serving a garrison town and the soldiers who lived and trained there. It also provided heating to a number of buildings in the area.
