On the rare occasions when back office functions are brought to our attention, it is usually when they are being reorganised or don't work. Otherwise, we are satisfied that they are there, and their functions continue to be performed seamlessly. As one of the organisations providing UK defence with business support, the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (SPVA) distributes ￡10bn in salary to around 250,000 people every year, as well as ￡4bn to those 340,000 currently in payment under the Armed Forces Pension Scheme.
