The procurement process to acquire a strategic business partner to work alongside the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is now in its final phase. In a lucrative deal for the winning bidding consortia, private companies will take on a raft of the DIO's current responsibilities. Some reports have estimated the value of the eventual contract to be worth somewhere in the region of ￡400m - although an MoD spokesperson insisted that that figure would be within an upper range of possible contract payments.
