Dear Readers, Seventy two years ago the Quaid and his companions turned Allama Iqbal's dream into the reality of Pakistan to get rid of the colonial legacy, build a society based on peace and justice and provide equal opportunities to people. In one of his earliest speeches the Quaid hoped for the new nation to be prosperous and tolerant where corruption would never find a home. Seventy two years later Jinnah's dream has all but disappeared, many are still searching for his vision for this country. Today Pakistan is among the most corrupt countries in the world where the rule of law, which distinguishes a civilised society from an uncivilised one, is non-existent. The World Justice Project's (WJP) Rule of Law Index for 2017-18 ranks Pakistan to be among the 10 worst countries. Because of the absence of the rule of law this country has become immersed in corruption and its trickle-down effect has penetrated deep into the fabric of society. Our economy has deteriorated because of the corruption of our politicians, civil servants, the rich and powerful and those wielding influence, it has now become clear that these criminals have laundered their ill gotten wealth in foreign countries. Every govt, every political party in power, and those who have held any public office have been involved in this daylight robbery, with a few honourable exceptions. Today, there appears to be a ray of light at the end of the tunnel, the noose is tightening around many politicians and the powerful who are in the dock and hopefully, will have to pay for their crimes. For the benefit of readers my article titled "GANGSTERS' HAVEN" is reproduced below.
