When new pilots make the transition to the AH-64 Apache, one potential stumbling block is becoming accustomed to -and mastering -the aircraft's helmet-mounted display (HMD). The monocle display of the Apache's Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System (IHADSS) projects flight and weapon symbology in front of the right eye of the pilot and gunner, and allows both to view imagery from the aircraft's Target Acquisition and Designation Sights/Pilot Night Vision System (TADS/PNVS) sensors.
